Founded in 1916, Erskine has provided nursing and medical care for former members of our Armed Forces through two world wars and the more recent conflicts and peace keeping initiatives.

Erskine

Over the past 92 years, Erskine has cared for around 75,000 veterans both young and old throughout Scotland and provides unrivalled, modern nursing and dementia care facilities.

In the past year the charity has cared for over 1300 veterans with an age range of 22 to 101 years old.

The charity has care homes in Bishopton, Erskine, Glasgow and Edinburgh on Gilmerton Road. Work is now in progress to double the bed provision in Edinburgh and to provide additional specialist care for veterans in Edinburgh and the East of Scotland. The new 48 bed extension is planned to receive its first residents in the autumn of 2009. This will result in a total of 88 places in the expanded Edinburgh Home.

Erskine Care is the partnership enjoyed by residents, which respects individual choice and decision and encourages maximum independence appropriate to individual levels of ability.

Dignity, privacy and respect are of paramount importance in delivering Erskine Care within a homely environment.

The charity relies heavily on support from individuals and organisations to fund ongoing care.
